Tested and Reviewed: The F2C Professional Meat Slicer
After unboxing the meat slicer, make sure that you take a glance at the instruction manual for a good laugh. The manual is almost comical with sentences that make absolutely no sense at all. But the manual doesn’t do the F2C any justice at all.
The F2C is a fine meat slicer that can rival commercial models found in most delis.
You’ll find that it’s rather easy to set this slicer up and begin slicing all of your meats and cheeses. It’s a bit on the heavy side, and this is due to the stainless-steel components.
Producing ½ HP and operating at 240 watts, the F2C is able to effortlessly slice through thicker meats, but is gentle enough to slice through cheese, too.
The unit weighs 35 pounds, and this helps the feet on the bottom of the unit keep it in place even when in use. You can put this slicer on a table, and it won’t move. The dimensions are 19″ x 18-7/10″ x 16-½”.
After setting everything up, you’ll also find that you can easily adjust the thickness of your cuts with a maximum thickness of 13mm, or 1/2″.
Keep in mind that you’ll damage the stainless-steel blade if you try and slice bone. This model is not designed to cut through thick bones. But it is delicate enough to cut through cheese and veggies.
If you plan on cutting cheese, which is something I highly recommend, just make sure that you have it in cold storage. Cheese that is allowed to warm for too long will have difficulty being sliced because it will stick to the blade.
Keep your cheese stored in the refrigerator prior to use and you won’t have any issues.
The F2C Professional makes quick work of vegetables, too.
When you start to notice that the blades are becoming dull, you’ll be happy to find two whetstones have been included. There are rough and moderately rough stones available in the package.
And guess what?
There are sharpening control buttons that ensure your blades are properly sharpened by the machine rather than by your own hand. You’ll also find that adjusting the thickness is a breeze, with full adjustments between 0″ and 1/2″.
A plastic plate is provided, too. The plate ensures that the meat or items you’re slicing stay on the tray even when they’re thicker.
Easy-to-clean and maintain, this model, like most on the market, needs to be cleaned by hand. You can’t fit this model in your dishwasher, so you’ll need to use a sponge and cleaner to properly clean the unit.
Disassembly is easy, too. The only slight complaint is the area behind the blade, which takes a little patience to clean and disassemble.
I will note that the first few uses are louder and less smooth. You’ll need to “break in” the machine. After a handful of uses, the noise production is very low and it moves smoothly back and forth during the slicing process.
Yes, there are a few quirks and complaints with this slicer, but it’s still an exceptional machine. Once you get used to operating the unit, you’ll find that it is quiet, easy to adjust, easy to maintain and even easy to clean.
It has the power to make quick work of all types of meats, and it can slice up to 1/2″ thick slices for those times when thin, sandwich slices simply won’t suffice.
- Ability to slice meat, veggies and even cheese
- Produces very low noise
- Deli-level quality
- Instruction manual is nearly illegible
A major issue that users have, especially if this is your first deli slicer, is that the instruction manual doesn’t make any sense. The manual is in “English,” but it’s very clear that the manual was translated from another language or written by someone that doesn’t speak English.
Efficient, quiet and powerful, the F2C Professional is able to handle almost any slicing job you throw at it. You can even slice right through cheese – an added bonus. This model easily competes with KWS slicers.
